Maureen Hanley Soho came into the world on August 12, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY. Maureen was one of six children born to Doris McTague Hanley and James Francis Hanley. She spent her childhood on Long Island in Hicksville, NY, with her siblings: James, Patricia Heeger, Kevin, Brian, and Daniel.
Maureen met the love of her life, Nicholas Francis Soho, on Long Island in 1966 and they married in 1968. She became the proud mother to three beautiful girls: Maureen Nicole Leonard (Jerry P.), Michele Nicole Kettering (James M.), and Nicole Marie Hickey (Mark D.). Maureen and Nick moved the family from Levittown, NY, to Slidell, LA, to raise their family. Maureen was a devoted “soccer mom” way before the term was even coined. She worked full-time as she raised her children instilling in them a strong work ethic and a deep spiritual connection with God. Maureen held several positions in the New Orleans area over the years working as a Program Manager at Tulane’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and ending her career with MedData in Covington, LA, as Office Administrator.
Three years ago, Maureen and Nick moved full-time to Hot Springs Village, AR, where she embraced retired life by participating in the Stonecroft Bible Study Group, Luncheon Connection, Boomers Rock Club, Garden Club, Christian Women’s Club, and as a volunteer for the Teen Challenge of Arkansas.
Maureen wore her “Grandma” title with pride, and leaves a legacy of eight beautiful grandchildren, including: Samantha Nicole Leonard (1995); Jerry Nicholas Leonard (1999); Nicholas James Kettering (2004); William McTague Kettering (2006); Maya Grace Hickey (2007); Charlotte Marie Hickey (2010); Margaret Hanley Kettering (2011); and Samuel David Hickey (2013).
On September 10, 2015, Maureen passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
